This year, with grocery prices at record highs, too many families are being forced to choose between paying bills and putting food on the table. In East Oakland, where food insecurity is already a daily reality, the holiday season can feel like just another reminder of what is out of reach.

Together, we can change that.

On November 21 and 22, 2025, the East Oakland Bridges Coalition, a network of nonprofits, civic groups, and community leaders, will host one of the largest holiday meal drives in our city’s history. At the East Oakland Boxing Association campus, volunteers will pack and distribute 5,000 full holiday meals, complete with turkey and all the fixings, nourishing nearly 30,000 people in a single weekend.

Each meal costs $65 per family, or $11 per person. That means for the cost of one lunch, you can help ensure a neighbor enjoys the dignity of sitting down to a holiday meal with loved ones.
